My Story

Chris Rice is a dad, a dog lover, and a storyteller living in Guelph, Ontario with his wife Megan, their young son Wren, and their cautious-but-loveable dog, Waffles.

A creative at heart, Chris both writes and illustrates his books, bringing characters and stories to life with warmth and personality. His debut picture book, Friends Take Time, is the first in the Waffles and Wren series, inspired by the real, funny, tender moment when their dog wasn't quite sure what to make of the tiny new human who had just arrived home.

But Waffles and Wren are just the beginning. Chris has a passion for storytelling across all ages and genres, with new projects and series in the works for readers of all kinds.

Chris Rice is a Guelph-based author and illustrator who debuted with Friends Take Time, a picture book inspired by the real-life bond between his son, Wren, and their dog, Waffles. While starting with children's literature, Rice is a versatile storyteller currently developing diverse projects across multiple genres and age groups.
